Costa Rican trio presents Piano Malango in Cole Auditorium on the SFA campus, Tuesday, February 24. Students will see Manuel Obregón on the piano, Jaime Gamboa on bass, and Carlos Vargas "Tapado" on percussion. Maneul Obregón is known for his work SIMBIOSIS, a dvd of magnificent views of the Costa Rican rainforest accompanied by his piano compositions. He also served as the Minister of Culture of Costa Rica from 2010 - 2014.
Jaime Gamboa is another well-known musician from Costa Rica who has played alongside Manuel and Tapado in the band MALPAÍS. Jaime is also an author of short stories and poetry.
In addition to working with Malpaís, Tapado is also a member of the Costa Rican trio EDITUS and holds multiple US Grammies for his work. Recently, Tapado has also worked with Alanis Morissette in "The Morning."
